Delfzijl, 23 mei 1874, E. Dijken, wed. Notes
Anne, Lyfke, Ewe and Johanna Elzinga immigrated to the United States from the Netherlands on the S.S. Canada
sailing from Liverpool, England 25 October 1906, arriving at Port of Montreal, Quebec on 3 November 1906.
Aaltje Elzinga, their daughter, was living in Salt Lake City, and a friend Cornelius Pander Dor
at 2406 South State Street in Salt Lake City, They were second-cabin passengers.
When Anne Elzinga was born on March 20, 1851, in Wierum, Netherlands, his father, Ewe, was 32 and his mother,
Aaltje, was 32. He married Lyfke Van Driesum and they had four children together. He then married Hendrika Maigret
and they had three children together between 1912 and 1916. He died on September 16, 1935, in Provo, Utah,
at the age of 84, and was buried in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Anne traveled from Liverpool, England, for Montréal, Canada, and crossed into the USA arriving on November 3, 1906,
at the age of 55. Documents from the border crossing indicate he was 5 foot 7 inches tall and had blue eyes.
Onno Elzinga also know as Anne Elzinga
The Grandfather of Lawrence Alvin Vincent, Jr., Gerald Joseph Vincent, and Gerradina Johanna Vincent Gray
He was born on 30 March 1951 to Ewe Elzinga and Aaltie Polies De Haan in Wierum, Friesland, Netherlands.
We know little of his history. What I can remember is as follows.
His Father Ewe and Mother Aaltje had nine children Onno was the fifth. They moved to a number of cities in Friesland.
He was the only convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints and moved his first family to Salt Lake City.
He was baptized on 16 January 1886. He married Lyfke Van Driesum (Van Drieske) on 21 September 1872.
She died on 16 March 1911. They had four children.
After Lyfke death he married Hendrika Maigret 30 August 1911 the three children they had are,
Gerradina Johanna Elzinga, Anna Hendrika Elzinga, and Isaac Maigret Elzinga.
Our mother is Gerradina Johanna Elzinga.
It is understood, but not proven that he was a Rhine River boat Capitan before he come to the United States.
I don't know his profession while in the United States.
He died during my fourth year so I do not remember much about him. He was hit by a car and suffered brain damage.
He died shortly after the accident.
